“Angel – ang anghel ng aking buhay at pinagmumulan ng aking lakas,” is how Imelda Pollero describes her daughter Angel.

Angel Pollero is the youngest child of a solo parent. She has two siblings and they are residing at Brgy. Balatong B, Pulilan, Bulacan. Despite the situation of not having her father in their family, she still feels complete and contented with her mother and 2 brothers around. She is a very sweet child. She always gives her best in everything to make her mother proud. 

Angel was 1 year old when her father left them for good. That was the start of their challenging days. It became difficult for Imelda to raise three children. That was the start of their challenging days as it became difficult for Imelda to raise three children alone.

Imelda worked harder as a laundry cleaner and a housekeeper at the same time. Still, the money she earned was not enough for their daily expenses. She tried to sustain the needs of her children.

As Angel grew up, she became aware of their situation. Angel felt sad but she remained strong for their family. But the love for his father never fades because she owes her life to her parents. This painful past is one of her motivations to strive harder in school and in life. All she wanted was to ease the pain her mother experiences.

She is now on her 6th Grade at Sta. Peregrina Elementary School and the current Secretary of the Supreme Pupil Government. She is a consistent outstanding pupil since daycare. Angel has been competing in different mathematics challenges and quiz bees. She carries the name of her school with pride and honor. Angel also excels in Filipino-themed subjects like Araling Panlipunan and Filipino. She also represents her school in the competition for school press conferences.

Angel also holds the characteristics of a leader and a student model. She is yearly elected as an officer in their class since in her first grade up to present. She actively participates in different school organizations as well. Her teachers and classmates admire her for being so diligent in her studies and school activities. She manages her time to make sure she is well-involved while maintaining her high grades. Angel is awarded Academic Excellence and other recognitions. 

Angel dreams of becoming a teacher someday to be an instrument to transfer knowledge and to inspire students to give their best in everything they do. he wants to give a better life to her family. At an early age, she proved that poverty is just a challenge she can overcome. Truly, she is a deserving beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

On 18 October 2019, she was hailed as the 2019 Pantawid Exemplary Child of Central Luzon.

With all the achievements she received, Angel will never lose the drive and motivation to reach her dreams, “ako’y isang bata, batang mahirap, ngunit batang matyaga. Kahit ano pang hirap ang aming maranasan, hindi ako susuko para makatawid sa kahirapan,” she said.
