Pampanga, Philippines. Enabler – Dir. Marites M. Maristela refreshes the audience with one of the core functions of social work as enablers.

She said that social development workers should be proud of performing the opportunity to change lives,  “Kung ang teachers, maraming estudyanteng natuturuan; ang mga doktor ay maraming napapagaling; tayong mga social [development] workers, maraming buhay ang napapaayos,” the DSWD Region III director said.

Some 344 “enablers” attended the Social Welfare Week on 8 November 2019, at Hacienda Gracia Resort and Hotel, Lubao, Pampanga. The said celebration bears the theme: “We Commit in Making Difference for People.” 

Social Welfare Week is observed from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1 every year by virtue of Proclamation No. 1205 series of 1973.

The said proclamation aims to promote high quality life and recognize social welfare as an essential contributor to national development.
