The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office III has prepositioned relief goods to the five (5) provinces of Central Luzon in support of the local government’s disaster relief operations.

DSWD Field Office III Director Adelina S. Apostol said that 6,200 family food packs were prepositioned to the Provincial Action Teams of Aurora (2,000 packs); Bataan (200); Bulacan (1,000); Tarlac (1,000); and Zambales (2,000). The DSWD also provided 17,100 cans ready to eat food (RTEF), 6,012 bottled water, 1,000 family kits, and 200 sleeping kits.

As of 8:00 A.M. today, typhoon Glenda has affected 398 families with 1,372 persons in six (6) municipalities from the five (5) provinces of the region.

Nine evacuation centers were set-up with 398 families or 1,372 persons from Aurora (3); Bataan (1); Bulacan (2); Pampanga (1); and Zambales (2).

As part of the disaster preparedness, Assistant Regional Director Irene C. Crespo has convened all the quick response teams (QRT) for update of weather conditions and possible effects of typhoon ‘Glenda’.

The Field Office, with the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) in Region III, is in close coordination with the local DRRMC at the provincial and municipal levels of the affected towns. ### (Evelyn T. Manalo) July 16, 2014
