DSWD Field Office III officially ties up with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in implementing Core Shelter Assistance yesterday, 28 January 2019. The collaboration project dubbed as “KiSLAP ng CSAP” (Kikilos ang Sandatahang Lakas, Aagapay sa Pabahay ng Core Shelter Assistance Program) aims to finish the remaining units in Kainomayan Village. The two parties signed the pledge of commitment followed by a groundbreaking ceremony. AFP expressed their commitmentted to the project, “Maximized at talagang may best effort kami, kung kailangang hindi kami matulog, hindi kami matutulog basta magawa namin”, said Lt. Col. Fernando G. Balona.

A total of 20 troops will be deployed o construct 105 units in Kainomayan Village. The units are expected to be completed within 30 working days.

Struggling for workforce, MSWDO Edwina Sibug is very thankful for this project. “Actually, nahihirapan kami ni Engineer na i-mobilize ang mga beneficiaries lalo na ‘yung mga matatanda na at walang relatives na magtatrabaho, kaya malaking tulong ito sa amin.”

Core Shelter Assistance is one of the project under Emergency Recovery and Rehabilitation Pprogram of DSWD that provides material assistance to be used in construction of resettlement houses for the survivors of Typhoon Kiko in 2009.

Present in the launch was DSWD FO III staff lead by ARDO Venus F. Rebuldela, AFP staff lead by Lt. Col. Fernando G. Balona and Cpt. Hazel T. Gabor, LGU officials and personnel lead by Mayor Doris Maniquis and MSWDO Edwina Sibug, and Neighborhood Association of Shelter Assistance Beneficiaries.
