FAKE: Sample of solicitation letter in Tarlac to collect solicitations

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office III (DSWD FO III) warns the public about scammers and fraudulent schemes that use its name to illegally collect solicitations.

It has reached the office that, this month, a solicitation letter bearing the logo of the Department, and the name and forged signature of its Assistant Secretary for Luzon Affairs Marites M. Maristela has been going rounds in Tarlac to collect solicitations.

This letter also claims that the alleged Development for the Blind Welfare of the Philippines, Inc. was granted a permit to solicit for their livelihood projects from 10 January to 15 March 2023.

Along with this report is the information that the solicitors were able to collect some P26,000 from different individuals and organizations.

The Management of the DSWD FO III and Assistant Secretary for Luzon Affairs Marites M. Maristela, whose forged signature is affixed therein, strongly deny and disclaim the authenticity and validity of the letter whose main objective is to discredit DSWD and to gain funds through illicit activity.

The Field Office is currently investigating this incident and shall take appropriate administrative and legal actions, if necessary.

DSWD Region III Director Jonathan V. Dirain reminds the public to be vigilant and alert to these kinds of scams. Further, the public may visit the Department’s website to verify an agency if it is registered with the Department and they may send requests for verification to fo3@dswd.gov.ph, (0949) 185 3156, (0915) 074 9245 or DSWD FO III Facebook page.
