Character Awardee for February (Excellence) – Keisha M. Nguyen
Public service is not just about one’s passion to serve selflessly. This love for the country and Filipinos should be expressed with excellence and skillfulness. These are virtues of a public servant.
Keisha Nguyen demonstrates these character virtues by going an extra mile on what she does as a chief of Finance Management of DSWD Region III. She is known for her outstanding performance record in the last five (5) years of being part of the Finance and Management Division (FMD).
She is noted for her outstanding contributions and innovative ways of transforming things at the workplace to further improve the service delivery of the Division and its sections to both internal and external clients.
Her passion and dedication lead her to perform beyond expectation. She does not confine herself in improving the FMD alone, but creates strategies and controls that will also contribute to the improvement of other divisions. She has a wide understanding of both the operations and administrative clusters, thus, she can make an assessment on what is needed by each cluster.
Keisha provides a compelling, positive vision with clear goals to herself in the workplace and that is to be part of the continuous change in the Department. She’s flexible and adaptive in a way that she’s not afraid to try new things and experiment on some processes in the FMD to be able to come up with the most effective way of achieving the targets. She has a strong will and determination in achieving her goals for the continuous improvement of the Department.
She’s also participative and supportive whenever she is being invited by other offices to attend their meetings and provide recommendations to some concerns along finance. Whatever ideas and knowledge she has, she’s very open in sharing such to others. She puts her knowledge and experience in the advisories she drafted this year that could help in addressing the issues and concerns in the prior year.
Keisha believes that, “Excellence is not a one time deal. It’s not an overnight success. It takes a lot of focus and drive to improve one thing in an extraordinary way.”
Excellence is not a destination but an everyday practice. Filipinos deserve the best public servants they can have.
