CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region III conducted the kick-off activity for the 2020 Adoption Consciousness Celebration with the theme “Pagmamahal Palaganapin, Legal na Pag-aampon Ating Gawin! (Spread Unconditional Love through Legal Adoption!)”, at SM City Telabastagan on February 5, 2020.

The activity was attended by over 200 participants coming from DSWD, other national government agencies, LGUs, child-placement institutions and child-caring institutions.

Mr. Ronald Elias who was one of the adoptive parents present during the event narrated how adopting her daughter inspired and brought unconditional love to his family. “Huwag ipagdamot ang pagmamahal, maraming bata ang nangangailangan ng ating pagkalinga,” Elias said. He also mentioned that he and his wife are planning to adopt another child from the DSWD centers.

DSWD Region III’s OIC-Assistant Regional Director for Administration, Maribel M. Blanco, emphasized the importance of legal adoption and invited prospective adoptive parents to approach any DSWD office for any information about adoption. She said that there are still a lot of children in DSWD centers waiting to be adopted.

The activity also included product displays featuring products from the different DSWD Centers and Residential Care Facilities in the region and adoption help desks and information booths.
