SUBIC, ZAMBALES — To foster oneness, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region III and the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) signed a Memorandum in ensuring full implementation of Republic Act 8972 or the Solo Parents Welfare Act of 2008.

This was done during the SBMA Solo Parents Forum on 10 January 2020, at Formosa Hall.

SBMA guarantees the delivery of social welfare benefits to all solo parents within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone “in order to promote the economic and social development of Central Luzon.” This was initiated by Atty. Wilma T. Eisma, Chairperson and Administrator of SBMA.

On the other hand, DSWD Region III commits to provide necessary technical assistance to the said partner. Its Director, Marites M. Maristela, CESO III, commended the SBMA management for being the first in Central Luzon to engage in such commitment.

Deputy Administrator Ronnie R. Yambao is SBMA’s Chairperson of the Committee on Solo Parents. According to him, future steps would include enjoining around 1,600 companies operating within the zone.

An orientation of the said law and awarding of Solo Parents ID were also conducted during the program.
