Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City – According to the agency memorandum released on October 16, 2018, in compliance to the directives of the President during 30th Cabinet Meeting, prepositioning of relief goods in Local Government Units is recommended to be discontinued. To comply to this while ensuring service delivery strategy is intact, DSWD Region III initiated partnership meeting to AFP on January 22, 2019.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office III and Armed Forces of the Philippines 7th Infantry Division (AFP7ID) signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) yesterday, May 21, 2019, providing augmentation support in delivering disaster response programs and services of DSWD.

In the MOA, AFP allowed utilization of their warehouse at Fort Magsaysay for prepositioning DSWD relief goods. “The primary purpose of this partnership is to facilitate ‘yung mga uninterrupted flow of services particularly doon sa mga nasalanta ng calamities lalo dito sa area ng 7ID (The primary purpose of this partnership is to facilitate uninterrupted flow of services particularly to those who are affected by calamities, especially in 7ID),” said Acting Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations LTC. Weeks from now DSWD will deliver the family food packs and non-food items to said facility.

In this undertaking, DSWD Region III was represented by Dir. Gemma B. Gabuya with Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) Chief Vilma R. Serrano, while MGen. Lenard T. Agustin signs on behalf AFP7ID.
