The municipality of Angat, Bulacan is one of the mountainous areas in the province. It nestles the Angat, River, also called the Bulacan River which flows from the Sierra Madre mountain range to Manila Bay. Barangay Sto. Cristo is one of the barangays in the municipality which faces the Angat River.

During the summer season, local and foreign tourists flock the barangay, specifically the riverside, for various water activities. This urged various residents in the barangay, including Ma. Cecilia “Shirley” M. Aytona, to establish businesses.

Shirley is one of the members of the Sto. Cristo SLP Association who received Seed Capital Fund amounting to P10,000.00 in April 2016. She used the said amount to put up a Bentelog business as suggested by  her eldest daughter. She believed this is a viable business to establish considering that her store is located near the riverside and jeepney terminal. With a full meal for an affordable price, students and  jeepney drivers became her target market. Local and foreign tourists who visit the riverside also poses a good market for her Bentelog business.

Prior to joining SLP, Shirley used to sell fresh vegetables which enables her to earn P3,000.00 a month. With her new Bentelog business that expanded into a mini carinderia, she now earns P12,000.00 a month. With the help of the Local Government Unit, Shirley was also able to make improvements on the structure of her store. She saves 100 a day for the expansion of her business. According to Shirley, she also wants to put up an e-loading and rice retailing business to increase her income.

“Gusto ko pong makita ng iba, na kahit ako ay isang benepisyaryo ng Pantawid, sa tulong ng SLP, nagawa kong maiangat ang buhay ng aming pamilya. Ang negosyo na naitayo ko ngayon ay nakatulong sa pagtatapos ng aking panganay na anak at lalo pang tumibay ang bonding ng aming pamilya buhat ng sama-sama naming pagtitinda.”
