The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office III (DSWD FO III) celebrates Adoption Consciousness Week 2019 this 9-17 February.

The said celebration is under Presidential Proclamation No. 72 s, 1999. It aims to:

• ensure nationwide awareness of the growing number of orphaned, abandoned or neglected Filipino children in need of alternative wholesome family environment;
• make the public aware that the placement of any orphaned, abandoned or neglected child in an adoptive home will serve his/her best interest in enhancing his/her normal growth and development;
• increase public awareness on legal Domestic Adoption and Foster Care;
• ensure appreciation and thereby increase prospective couples awaiting adoption;
• encourages domestic adoption of neglected, orphaned, or abandoned children.

This year’s theme is “Pagmamahal Palaganapin, Legal na Pag-aampon Ating Gawin! (Spread Unconditional Love Through Legal Adoption)“.

Below is the schedule of activities for a week-long celebration:

• February 11 – Fun Run (Starting McDonald’s OG Road, City of San Fernando to Bren Z. Guiao Sports Complex, City of San Fernando) – Participation is Free and wearing of Pink is encouraged. Gunstart at 5:30am. A short program will follow at the Sports Complex.
• February 12 – Adoption Care Forum (Porac, Pampanga)
• February 14 – Adoption Care Forum (Bulacan)
• February 15 – Adoption Care Forum (Palayan, Nueva Ecija)
• February 16-17 – Installing of Adoption Help Desk (In participating malls and other establishments.)
