The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office III (DSWD FO III) has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Mother Teresa of Calcutta Medical Center (MTCMC), for the health care program of the DSWD Field Office III employees on August 14, 2017.

MTCMC, a duly licensed hospital located in the City of San Fernando, has offered to provide hospitalization and out-patient services to employees of the DSWD FO III and their qualified dependents.

The agreement shall cover the emergency consultation and treatment, ambulance conduction, elective OPD services, and medical and surgical in-patient services of the DSWD field Office III’s employees and their qualified dependents within the limit specified in the Letter of Authorization (LOA)/ Guarantee Letter (if internal health fund is present) and certificate of employment issued by the DSWD.

Under the MOA, the employee-patient shall pay the Hospital within 30 calendar days from the receipt of the hospital billing with attached documentary requirements. Failure to settle the said bill within the prescribed period, the patient will pay an additional 3% for every month of delay as penalty.

MTCMC shall give the DSWD employees a prompt payment discount of 5% of the total hospital bill net of PhilHealth excluding professional fees if payment is remitted to the hospital within seven (7) days from the receipt of hospital’s statement.

Initially, the employee-patient shall be given a limit of P50,000.00 and if the limit is exceeded, then the MTCMC shall require the patient to make partial payments so as not to exceed the limit.

The MTCMC has also prepared exclusive packages with discounts for laboratory examinations such as chemical, physical, microscopic examination, and drug test. The employee-patient can choose from the packages classified into five (5) tiers that range from P753 to P3,601.

“This is one way of showing our concern to our workers, especially to our Cost of Service (COS) employees who do not have health cards,” Regional Director Gemma B. Gabuya said.

As a department that upholds the rights and promotes the interests of the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals, families and communities, we must also promote the welfare of our employees by providing quality health care for them. They are the people who implement our programs and services to the people and communities that we are serving, Gabuya added. ### (Evelyn T. Manalo)
