Some P300,000.00 worth of scholarship grant was handed down by Mutya ng Olongapo 2013 Alexandra Faith Garcia to select Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries in Olongapo City through the Office of City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino.

Garcia turned-over certificates of scholarship to five graduating high school students in the city; all of whom are household members of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries in the city, and were able to obtain good scholastic rating in their senior year.

“I finished my BS Tourism degree last year and I know how empowering education is in our lives. Now that I have the opportunity to serve, I would like to help the youth empower themselves. I know that not all parents can afford to support the studies of their children and there are a lot of good students who would like to pursue their studies further,” Garcia said.

“Aside from winning the Mutya ng Olongapo 2013 title, I am also awarded with opportunities to serve our people,” she said. She also added that the scholarships she awarded were part of her winnings and she is offering it back to the city for deserving students.

Junver Manalabe, Rodney Hernandez, Kimberly Carino, Beverly Dioquino and Judith Calistro were the recipients of the certificates of scholarship.

Last month Garcia’s prize of P100,000.00 for her chosen charity as Miss Silka Philippines was awarded to the Reception and Study Center for Children in Lubao, Pampanga.

Meanwhile, last March 19, 2014 Garcia with her sister Diane Kimberly was in San Narciso, Zambales for an outreach project. The sisters have their regular outreach program called “a Day to have Faith”. They partnered with friends and relatives to bring joy among the marginalized children in Olongapo City and in the province of Zambales.

Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries in Paite Mabato Day Care Center and Elementary School as well as all the other students were treated to a two-hour of fun, learning and gift giving. This is the fourth learning institution catering to Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries that the sisters visited.

“Re-packing of gifts for the children and the schools has become part of our regular family bonding. We hope to reach more children in the coming days,” Diane said.

The sisters express profound gratitude for the opportunities to serve that were given them.
